Porting questions

Which numbers can be ported to ONSIM?

Geographic landlines (01 and 02) and UK mobile numbers (07) port routinely. 03 and 0800/0808 numbers usually port, and we confirm your specific number with the losing provider before anything is committed. We do not take on 070 personal numbers or 084/087/09 revenue-share ranges - for those, a fresh 03 or local number is nearly always the better move.

What does porting to ONSIM cost?

Port-in is included on Landline SIM plans (landlines and mobiles alike). On Virtual Landline a landline port is a one-off £20 + VAT. Non-geographic (03/08) ports are confirmed with your quote before any charge.

How long does a port take?

Mobile ports with a PAC code usually complete the next working day. Landline ports typically take 10 to 14 working days. Your number keeps working with your current provider until the moment of transfer, so there is no gap in service.

Do I need to cancel my old provider first?

No - the opposite. The number must be active for the port to succeed, so leave the old service running until the port completes. For mobiles, texting PAC to 65075 also triggers your old contract to end automatically once the port goes through, under Ofcom switching rules.

Will porting my landline survive the PSTN switch-off?

It is one of the main reasons people port. Once your number is on ONSIM it lives on the mobile network, not the copper network being switched off - so the number your customers have used for decades keeps working with no engineer visit and no broadband dependency. See the PSTN switch-off guide.

Can I port a number that another provider says is unportable?

Sometimes. Portability depends on the range and the losing provider rather than one provider's policy, and some providers decline ports that are actually possible. Ask us to check - the worst case is a straight answer, and if it genuinely cannot move we will say so and suggest what to do instead.
