Buy a landline number - live in minutes
A UK landline number, in any area code, without a phone line, a desk phone or a contract. It rings on the mobile already in your pocket from £5/month + VAT, and the whole thing takes about as long as reading this page.
Pick your number
Any UK area code - your town, London, or a national 03 number. Around 610 geographic codes are available; if you can dial it, we can supply it.
Choose how it rings
Virtual Landline (£5/month + VAT) forwards calls to any existing phone. Landline SIM (£10/user/month + VAT) puts the number natively on a SIM or eSIM, so outbound calls show it too.
Answer it anywhere
The number is live in minutes, managed in your dashboard: routing, hours, voicemail, hunt groups, and a log of every call, answered or not. Monthly rolling - cancel any time.
Why buy a number that has no line?
Because the line was never the point - the number is. A landline number makes a business look established and local; the copper it used to need is being switched off nationally anyway. Buying the number on its own gets you the credibility without the line rental, the desk phone or the engineer visit, and it moves with you: change premises, change staff, change how it routes, and the number your customers know never changes.
ONSIM has supplied numbers this way since 2013, on our own UK network - the number rings your mobile at network level, with no app to install and no VoIP to drop. Every call is logged in a real-time dashboard, including attempted calls that rang unanswered.
Buying a landline number
Can I buy a landline number without a phone line?
Yes - that is the whole point. A landline number no longer needs a physical line: it lives in the network and rings whatever phone you choose, usually your existing mobile. With the UK's copper network switching off, numbers without lines are not the workaround any more; they are how landline numbers work now. See the PSTN switch-off guide.
How quickly is the number live?
Typically minutes. Choose the number, complete signup, and calls to it start forwarding to your mobile straight away. Landline SIMs and eSIMs take as long as the SIM takes to arrive or the eSIM QR code takes to scan - eSIM activation is emailed instantly at checkout.
Can I choose the area code?
Yes, any of the roughly 610 UK geographic codes - browse the full area codes directory or the city pages. You do not need to be based in the area: businesses routinely buy a local number for each area they serve, or a London 020 number for national credibility.
How much does a landline number cost?
From £5/month + VAT as a Virtual Landline (the number plus up to 2,500 forwarding minutes to any phone) or £10/user/month + VAT on a Landline SIM with unlimited UK calls and SMS, where inbound and outbound calls both carry the landline number. No setup fee, no contract, monthly rolling.
Can I buy a memorable or specific landline number?
Often, yes. Memorable numbers and specific digit patterns are available subject to current stock in each area code - ask when you sign up, or request a quote with the pattern you are after.
I already have a landline number - can I move it instead of buying a new one?
Yes, and if your number is established you probably should: port it to ONSIM and keep every listing, sign and business card as they are. Porting in is included on Landline SIM plans, or a one-off £20 + VAT on Virtual Landline. See port your number.
Which number type should my business buy?
Local (01/02) if you serve a place; 0330-style national if you serve the country; 0800 if you want to be free to call. Two minutes with the free business number chooser gives you a recommendation based on how you actually work.
