Mobile phone systems for Electricians
Win more jobs with a local landline number on your mobile
Customers don't always trust a personal 07 mobile when they're calling about an electrical fault. A local 0161, 020 or 0121 number signals an established trade business - and with ONSIM that number rings straight to your existing mobile. No second handset, no VoIP, no engineer visit.
From £5/month + VAT for inbound calls. £10/user/mo if you also want outbound calls to display your landline number.
Why local landline numbers matter for electricians
Look established, not just a sole trader
A 0161 or 020 number on your van and your website signals you've been around. Customers searching for "emergency electrician [town]" are far more likely to call a recognisable local number than an unknown 07.
Keep your personal mobile private
Your landline number goes on the van, the website, the Facebook page. Your personal mobile stays personal. Same phone in your pocket - clear separation between business and life.
Never miss a callback
If you can't take a call (in a roof, on a ladder, head in a consumer unit), voicemail captures it. With Landline SIM and 2+ users, hunt groups ring across your team simultaneously or in sequence.
Two ways to set up
Virtual Landline - £5/mo + VAT
Pick a local 01/02 or national 03 number. Inbound calls divert to your existing mobile. No SIM swap, no app. The simplest possible setup - live in minutes.
Best for: just starting out, or you only need inbound calls.
Landline SIM - £10/user/mo + VAT
A real SIM (or eSIM) for your mobile, with your landline number assigned to it. Outbound calls display the landline number. Hunt groups, voicemail, hold & transfer included. Unlimited UK calls and SMS (fair use).
Best for: teams, or any electrician who calls customers back regularly.
Frequently Asked Questions
What electricians most often ask before signing up.
Why do electricians need a virtual landline?
Customers calling about an electrical fault - especially anything that feels urgent - often won't trust a personal 07 mobile number. A local 0161, 020 or 0121 landline signals an established trade business. With ONSIM the landline number rings straight to your existing mobile, so you take the call wherever you are on the job.
Can I get a local area code for the area I cover?
Yes. ONSIM offers 650+ UK dial codes including London 020, Manchester 0161, Birmingham 0121, Leeds 0113, Glasgow 0141 and Liverpool 0151, plus most smaller towns. If you cover multiple areas, you can have multiple landline numbers on a single SIM.
What does it cost?
Virtual Landline costs £5/month + VAT - calls divert to your existing mobile. If you also want outbound calls to display your landline number (so customers see the number they originally called), upgrade to Landline SIM from £10/user/month + VAT. Both are monthly rolling - cancel anytime.
Do I need a separate handset or app?
No. Virtual Landline just diverts calls to your existing mobile - there's nothing to install. Landline SIM is a normal mobile SIM (physical or eSIM) that goes in your existing phone - no app, no VoIP. Use your phone's normal dialler and contacts.
What if I'm in a roof void and can't take the call?
Voicemail is included. On the Landline SIM you can also set up hunt groups (one included on multi-user accounts) so calls ring across multiple electricians simultaneously or in sequence - useful if you run a small team. IVR menus and call queues are available as paid add-ons if you need more structured call handling.
Can I keep my existing business landline number?
Yes. ONSIM ports most UK landline numbers - typically 10-14 working days from receipt of the porting form. Port-in fee is covered. See the keep-your-landline-number guide. If you currently rely on a copper PSTN line, porting to ONSIM before the January 2027 switch-off is the simplest migration route.
