Mobile phone systems for car dealerships

YOUR BEST SALES EXEC JUST LEFT.
EVERY CUSTOMER HAS HIS PERSONAL NUMBER.

Test drives by text, part-exchange photos, finance callbacks - all on the salesperson's personal mobile. When they move to the dealership down the road, the customer book moves too, and next time your customer rings "their guy", he answers wearing a different badge.

ONSIM makes every sales number a business asset, natively ON-A-SIM. When someone leaves, their number moves to a replacement's SIM in minutes - the enquiries stay with your showroom.

Hunt groups, holiday routing and failover mean a live buyer never dies in a personal voicemail box. And every call is logged, answered or not.

The number is the customer relationship. Own it.

Tailored Phone Solutions for Car Dealerships

Key Features Built for the Forecourt:

A sales floor phone system that lives on the handsets your team already carries. No apps, no desk phones gathering dust in the showroom - the dealership's numbers, on the team's SIMs, with routing and records behind them.

Numbers That Belong to the Dealership

Every sales number is issued to the business, not the individual. When a salesperson leaves, reassign their number in minutes - to a replacement's SIM, an existing colleague's SIM, a hunt group or an IVR menu, with texts delivered to email, no SIM required. The customer book reaches your showroom, not a competitor.

No More One-Number-One-Person

A single mobile per salesperson does not scale: on holiday, on a test drive or on another call, enquiries die in voicemail. Failover passes unanswered calls to a colleague or a hunt group of the whole sales floor, so a live buyer always reaches a human.

Time-of-Day and Holiday Routing

Route numbers by rota: to the showroom floor in opening hours, the duty salesperson on Sundays, voicemail with a callback promise overnight. Change it yourself when the rota changes - no tickets, no engineer.

Every Call Logged, Answered or Not

Real-time call logs include attempted calls - outbound calls that rang unanswered. When a buyer says nobody called them back about the part-exchange valuation, you have a timestamped record. Most mobile networks cannot show you this at all.

Recording for the Deals That Matter

On-network call recording (an optional paid add-on) captures what was agreed on price, part-exchange and extras - and what was said about finance - at network level, with nothing for sales staff to remember to press.

Texts on the Business Number Too

Salespeople text customers from the business number, not their personal one - and with recording enabled, SMS is captured alongside calls. The photo-and-text trail around a deal stays with the dealership.

"Your guy answered. He works somewhere else now."

This one is personal. I bought a brand-new car from a premium main dealer, and when the time came to buy the next one, I rang the salesman who had looked after us - on the mobile number he had always used. He answered. He had moved to a rival brand. And rather than passing us back to the dealership we had bought from, he spent the call talking down his old marque and pitching us his new one.

The dealership that earned the first sale never even knew the second one was in play. That is the cost of running your sales floor on personal mobiles: the number is the relationship, and the number walked out the door in someone's pocket. It is not the salesperson being evil, it is the system doing exactly what it was set up to do.

On ONSIM the numbers belong to the dealership. When a salesperson moves on, their number is reassigned in minutes - and it does not have to go to another SIM. Route calls to a replacement's SIM, an existing team member's SIM, a hunt group of the sales floor or an IVR menu, and have text messages delivered to email, all without an active SIM. The number stays live and the repeat business rings your showroom, not their new employer. Existing numbers - including mobile numbers customers already have saved - can be ported in and managed the same way. Recording and attempted-call logs then give you the evidence layer: what was agreed on the deal, and proof your team actually made the callbacks they promised.

Still have doubts?

Our salespeople already give out their own mobile numbers. How do we get that under control?

Two routes, and most dealerships use both. New staff get a business-owned number on a Landline SIM (physical or eSIM) from day one, so customers only ever save a dealership number. For numbers already in circulation, if the number is a business asset you control, port it to ONSIM and it becomes reassignable like any other - customers keep calling the number they have saved, and the dealership decides whose handset it rings.

What actually happens to a number when a salesperson leaves?

You reassign it in the dashboard, typically within minutes - and it does not need a SIM waiting for it. Point calls at the replacement's SIM or eSIM, an existing colleague's SIM, a hunt group of the sales floor or an IVR menu, and have incoming text messages delivered to email while you recruit. The number never goes dark, inbound enquiries from the leaver's customer book reach your team from day one, and you move it again whenever you like. The leaver's personal number and personal life are untouched - which is exactly why sales staff should never have been using personal numbers for business in the first place.

Can a customer still reach a human when their salesperson is on a test drive?

Yes - that is the failover. If the salesperson does not answer (on a call, on a drive, on holiday), the call passes to a colleague, a hunt group of the sales floor, or the showroom number, in an order you choose. A buyer with finance approved and cash ready never ends up in a personal voicemail box.

Can we route calls differently on Sundays and holidays?

Yes. Time-of-day routing sends calls to the showroom floor in opening hours, the duty salesperson on late nights and Sundays, and out-of-hours voicemail with a callback promise overnight. Holiday routing covers annual leave without anyone forwarding their phone or handing their handset over. You change all of it yourself in the dashboard.

Can we prove we called a customer back?

Yes. ONSIM's real-time call logs include attempted calls - outbound calls that rang unanswered - timestamped against the number dialled. When a buyer claims nobody rang them about the valuation or the delivery date, the record exists whether or not the call connected. Read why other networks don't log attempted calls.

Does call recording help with finance and deal disputes?

Dealerships arranging finance are typically FCA-authorised for consumer credit, and the motor finance commission saga has shown how far back disputes can reach - years after the handshake, the question is what was actually said about the finance, the extras and the part-exchange. On-network recording (an optional paid add-on) captures those calls with nothing for staff to remember to press, and SMS recording covers the text trail. This helps you evidence what happened; it is not legal or regulatory advice, and how you record and retain is for your own compliance advisers.

Do we have to tell customers calls are recorded?

If you enable recording you are responsible for using it lawfully - in practice UK businesses typically inform callers, for example with a short announcement or a line in your terms. Recording is off by default and only enabled if you opt in. See mobile call & SMS recording.

Can the showroom landline ring the sales floor mobiles?

Yes. Port your advertised showroom number to ONSIM and put a hunt group behind it - every salesperson's handset rings, simultaneously or in sequence, wherever they are on the forecourt. The number every advert and listing carries stops depending on someone being near a desk phone.

We have multiple sites - can each keep its own local number?

Yes. Each site keeps or picks its own local number - see local numbers for every UK area code - with its own routing and hunt group, all under one account. A SIM can carry more than one number, so a manager covering two sites displays whichever site they are calling for.

What does it cost for a typical sales team?

The Landline SIM is £10/user/month + VAT with unlimited UK calls and SMS, hunt group included on 2+ user accounts, and UK data bundles from £2. A Virtual Landline at £5/month + VAT suits a single advertised number forwarded to a mobile. Call recording, IVRs and AI Insights are paid add-ons. Monthly rolling, cancel any time. Port-in is included on Landline SIM and a one-off £20 + VAT on Virtual Landline.
