The fake-order version invites you to "cancel" through a cloned login page. The Prime version collects card details on a fake payment form. Captured accounts are used to buy gift cards and goods, and the login pair is tried across other services within hours.

Open the Amazon app or type amazon.co.uk and check Your Orders and Message Centre: every genuine communication about your account is mirrored there. If nothing matches the text, it was a scam.

If you get one

Do not click, reply or call any number in the message. Forward it for free to 7726 so your mobile network can block the campaign, then delete it. If a call or text claims to be your bank, hang up and dial 159 - the UK anti-fraud line that connects you to your real bank.
